Cold formed steel has been traditionally used as part of secondary framing systems - interior partitions and in-fill wall framing. More recently, cold formed steel sections have been incorporated into the primary structural frame. Using cold formed steel provides many advantages over wood, the most comparable alternative material: No twisting or splitting or shrinkage of framing members. Construction of a completely non-combustible building, aiding in access to housing projects that preclude wood framing. Pre-fabrication approaches allow for accelerated construction schedules. Lemtra Projects has considerable experience in the design of cold-formed steel.
